Anonymous said: Hi 🙂 This page is really helpful, but it seems that a lot of things aren’t working. Several links, when I click them, just tells me that the URL could not be found, and the “warlock mark reveal” tag sends me to the “drugged alec” tag
Hi! First of all, thank you! As much fun as putting this blog together has been, it’s also quite a bit of work so thank you for your kind words 🙂
There are several reasons why you could be getting the “Not Found” page when clicking on a link.
- As stated at the top of the Tags Index Page, this blog is still currently getting off the ground and, because of this, some tags have not been used yet. When I first set this blog up, I added tags that I knew certain fics on my to-rec list have used but I haven’t gotten around to reccing all of them yet. As of now, this issue should only be limited to the episode and theme links. Everything else that is represented on the Tags Index Page is there because recs have been posted that fulfill their criteria.
- I also tend to queue recs four to five days in advance. When I do that, I try to update the tags index list at the same time so I do not forget which ones have been added to the blog. Those links will eventually work themselves out once recs are posted that fit their criteria.
- You also have to keep in mind that I use a lot of tags in order to help readers understand what each fic brings to the table. That includes chapters, length, rating, genre, episodes, themes, secondary characters, and secondary pairings. Some fics, particularly those with a more complex plot, have quite a few themes, secondary characters, and secondary pairings present within them. I always list everything in the written portion of the post in case they make readers want to (or not want to) read a fic, but Tumblr has a tag limit that most people aren’t aware of. (I wasn’t aware of it until I started this blog, to be honest). I can only add thirty of them in the tag area, which is more than a little frustrating for organizational purposes, but unfortunately that’s just the way that it is. I’ve been trying to make sure that the under-represented tags are in the working section, but obviously that’s not always possible. [EDIT: I may have found a way to get around this particular issue, but I’m currently doing a a trial run to see if it works. Please work under this assumption for now.]
Thank you for letting me know about the “Warlock Mark Reveal” tag though. That’s an error that I have since gone in and fixed. I double checked all of the other theme links while I was already knee-deep in coding and that was the only mistake in that section, so everything there (that has been used in recs) should work. Please let me know if you continue having problems with links taking you to a different tag than they’re labeled.
