DECEMBER 8TH: MAGNUS’ BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

The entire day will be dedicated to fic recs that feature themes related to our favorite warlock’s birthday. 

DECEMBER 15TH: DECEMBER 24TH: COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS

The ten days leading up to Christmas will feature winter and holiday-themed fic recs.

DECEMBER 25TH: CHRISTMAS EVENT

The day will be dedicated to fic recs that feature themes related to Christmas Day.

DECEMBER 31ST: NEW YEARS EVENT

The day will be dedicated to fic recs that feature themes related to New Years Eve and New Years Day.

This is the tentative schedule for this month. As I said in the most recent blog update, things will be touch-and-go for a while.

The You Pick the Tag Event will continue this month with installations posted on each Friday of the month. They will feature the following thematic tags, as voted on by all of you: Married Couple, Pretend Relationship, Shadow World Politics, and Wedding.

In honor of Halloween, October 31st will feature spooky, Halloween-themed fics recs.

If you’re an author who signed up to receive a personalized thank you card for Author Appreciation Day, those will be sent out in mid-to-late October. Keep an eye out for them!

The blog returns from its 3-month #SaveShadowhunters hiatus on September 1st with the Back to Hogwarts Event. The Wizarding World comes to life in celebration of the day that students return to Hogwarts.

Voting for the You Pick the Tag Event also ends on September 1st at 9:00PM EST. Be sure to get your votes in for the thematic tags you’d like to see represented in fic recs posted every Friday during September and October using the form located here. The posting schedule for the event is as follows: 

  • September 7th: Week #1
  • September 14th: Week #2
  • September 21st: Week #3
  • September 28th: Week #4 

The Thank You Card and Positive Message Response Forms for Authors Appreciation Day 2.0 close on September 4th. If you signed up to write a personalized thank you card to a specific author, please submit your message using the form located here. If you would like to submit a short, positive message about your experience as a fic reader and/or writer, please do so using the form located here.

In honor of one half of the pairing having a birthday this month, Alec’s Birthday Celebration Event will take place on September 12th. All recs will feature some element of birthday fun and fluff centering on our favorite Shadowhunter.

Finally, the first day of fall will once again be celebrated via the Autumn in New York Event. All recs will feature elements of the season.

Following the Pride Event yesterday, we’re back to the #SaveShadowhunters hiatus for the foreseeable future. But we do have some fun things coming up once someone decides to finally make an official announcement.

The You Pick the Tag Event will begin this month. This event is designed to allow for a bit more reader participation. A hybrid of last year’s Fic Preference Poll and Tag a Day Event, readers will have the opportunity to take part in a poll every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday to determine the thematic tag that will dominate the following Friday’s fic recs. The Author Appreciation Day Event will continue making progress this month. Thank You Card Writer sign-ups will close on June 12th and will operate on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you want to write a personalized thank you message to a fic writer in the fandom, now is your chance to do so! The Thank You Card Response Form for Part #1 of the event and Positive Message Response Form for Part #2 of the event will both open on June 19th. In order to celebrate Father’s Day and the First Day of Summer, the blog will feature fic recs related to each date on June 17th and June 21st respectively.

This weekly, three-day event, spanning Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, will feature fic recs related to the previous week’s episode, as well as any predictions based on the upcoming episode’s promotional material. The beginning phases for Part #1 of Author Appreciation Day 2.0 kick off this month. The Shadowhunters fic writers who would like to receive a personalized thank you card may start signing up on May 1st. Following the closing of that sign-up form on May 15th, the Authors Claim List will be posted on May 26th. It will identify the authors who have signed up for the event. The Countdown to Season 3 Event will continue through most of this month with Season 2 fic recs. The event will culminate with Season 3 prediction fic recs on March 20th, 20 of which will be posted throughout the day until 3×01 premieres at 8:00 PM EST. In order to mark the first day of Spring on March 20th, the following day’s recs will consist of warmer weather and walks in Central Park during the Spring in New York Event.

The 3A Episode Collection Event will begin on March 25th and run until March 27th. This weekly, three-day event, spanning Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, will feature fic recs related to the previous week’s episode, as well as any predictions based on the upcoming episode’s promotional material. March 29th is the two-year anniversary of 1×12. In celebration, during the 1×12 Anniversary Event fic recs will be related to that episode.

Celebrate the love between Magnus and Alec with the Valentine’s Day event on February 14. 

In order to mark the one-year anniversary of this blog’s creation, February 19 will be dedicated to an Annual Review. While no new fic recs will be posted, yearly analytics will be evaluated, favorite fics and quotes will be revisited, and followers will be able to take part in a poll that will help guide the future of this blog. More information on this event will be posted closer to its date.

We will mark the last month of the hiatus with the Countdown to Season 3 event. Beginning on February 20, fic recs for each episode will be posted daily leading up to the Season 3 premiere date on March 20. More information on this event will be posted closer to its start date.

Barring any extenuating circumstances, the rest of the month will be business as usual with two to three recs posted per day.
