Summary:
They haven’t sparred ever before, always preferring to fill their free time with other date activities, but when Magnus has swung by and declared Alec needed a break lest he grows roots behind his desk, Alec couldn’t bring himself to say no, didn’t want to say no.
So, while he went ahead to fetch them some weapons from the cache and get changed into more comfortable clothes, he left Magnus to do the same. Even having expected something different than the wonderful dark navy suit, Alec could not help but stare, as he entered the training hall.
Because holy shit, there are very few things hotter than Magnus and one of them is definitely Magnus in workout gear.

Summary:
“I thought we might take advantage of the opportunity this photo booth provides us with?” he answers, but it sounds like a question, like he’s unsure if Alec would be at all interested. Alec gets why, honestly – he’s never been big on taking pictures. It’s not that he doesn’t see the value in them, but photographs have always been such an ordeal with his family. Perfectly unwrinkled clothes, standing with a rigid posture. Smiling, but not too wide. It’s exhausting, trying to mold himself into whatever someone else wants him to be for a photo.
But it’s never like that, with Magnus. There’s no posing, there’s no readjusting of their clothes. It’s all very real, and Alec finds that when it’s like that, he doesn’t mind at all.

The voice that being with Magnus had almost silenced. That he, Alexander Lightwood, was both too much and not enough for the person he loved.
Too much: too demanding, too needy, to inexperienced, too apt to making mistakes, too draining, too useless.
Not enough: not good enough, at being a boyfriend, at being a leader, at being an ally. Not strong enough for Magnus to want to lean on, not open enough for Magnus to want to pour himself into. The little bit he had – which was everything he had – wasn’t enough to keep them together, wasn’t worth the effort.
