They made it out of the battle, even if they are battered and weary. Magnus can still feel the residual hum of energy throbbing inside him from overuse, just as readily as he feels bruises forming along the length of his ribs, but there’s no time for healing and recuperation. Not when Lilith is mobilizing, sending swarms of Edomi that Magnus should have been tracking since they disappeared from the breach to weaken their defenses before striking. But that’s not a thought he has enough time to examine. He needs to focus, gather what’s left of his strength and steel himself for what’s coming.
