Alec clenched his teeth together and blinked rapidly as he tried to hold back the tears that he felt prickling up in his eyes. They were tears of anger and tears of disappointment. He shook his head, trying to get those toxic thoughts out of his head, trying to ignore the hurt he felt spreading through his body and mind just as long so he could get to Magnus’s apartment. He quickly checked if there were cars coming, then crossed the street and continued his strides towards a certain glamoured apartment in Brooklyn Heights, towards the one and only person he wanted to see right now.

When Alec wakes up from his afternoon nap, he is both pleased and surprised to find Magnus there.
So to wake up with Magnus’ warm cheek resting on his bare shoulder, hair tickling his neck, and an arm looped over his torso is definitely a pleasant surprise. He revels in the feeling once more – the strong lines of Magnus’ chest against his back and the hands splayed flat over his stomach that rise and fall in tandem as he breathes – it feels like belonging, safety, and love.

When Magnus had changed, he’d pulled on tight pants and an ornate emerald green jacket, open to his sternum to show off the necklaces he has layered on. His makeup is perfect now, smudges of kohl transformed into dark black lines. He looks every bit the High Warlock again, no longer like some late night fantasy created solely to torment Alec.
Alec forces a brittle smile. “Sure,” he says.
