It was like a vital piece of Magnus was missing, and it couldn’t be returned until that spell book was back in his hands. There was no hesitation as Alec pulled the item free, tucking it into his jacket. That night, with the sounds of celebration from Hunter’s Moon fading and Magnus’ arm wrapped around him, Alec couldn’t wait any longer.

The chill of the evening air carried signs of drizzle and left their exposed skin moist and cold. With Magnus’ arm looped through Alec’s, hands in their pockets, they made their way through the almost empty Battery Park on their way back from a night out. Magnus had agreed to drop Alec off at the Institute for a midnight mission, before portalling back home to the loft. The pathways of the park were lit by the warm yellow almost golden lights from the lampposts. Leaves covered the ground and colored it maroon, brown and occasionally red making their surroundings warm in the cold fall weather.

“That’s for sure,” Jace snorts. “He’s away from you for one night, and it’s all, ‘I miss Magnus. This is Magnus’ favorite drink. Did you know we had our first date here? I should text Magnus.’” He says this in what could be construed as an impression of Alec but sounds more like a sappy teenager — which, certainly sounds like his lovesick Alexander.
