Summary:

He’d only been trying to portal home. He’s done it a million times before and he doesn’t know where he went wrong this time. He had ended up in the loft, but he knew something was horribly wrong from the very first second. Nothing looked the same, nothing felt familiar. The very air he breathed caused his whole body to itch, every instinct he had screaming at him that everything was wrong. It had only been when Magnus had found him that it had been confirmed. While his Papa was exactly the same as he had been the last time Max had seen him, it was so very clear to Max that he was not the same man. A hesitant “Papa?” had only cemented it.

He wasn’t home at all. He was as far from home as he could get.

He was in the past.

Or the one where max is a long way from home, spills some potentially future ruining details, and is terrified of losing his brother.

Summary:

The springtime has finally fully settled into the city air, and Alec and Magnus take full advantage of that one morning after they’ve had coffee on the loft’s balcony. Walking hand in hand, they’re making their way through Central Park when they spot the entourage of people trailing behind two women is flowing white dresses. Without exchanging a word, Magnus and Alec come to a stop, taking in the scene before them. There is a man with a hefty camera in his hands, and he is checking something on it as a woman fixes the hair of one of the women in a white dress. A few more people are running around them, fixing the dresses or fiddling with the trees and flowers, but soon enough almost everyone steps behind the photographer, leaving only the two women in each other’s embrace.

It is only then that it clicks finally, at least to Alec.

Those are wedding dresses.

And that’s it for the Countdown to Season 3 Event!

Thank you all so much for the support over the last twenty-nine days of fic recs! This event took a lot of time to plan, read, rec, and organize, but it was so worth it to revisit some great works surrounding the previous episodes. For a moment, his eyes dip closed and he rewinds his memories to see it again, every detail preserved like butterfly wings in glass – the shimmering unshed tears hanging onto Magnus’ lower eyelashes, the fire casting orange shades over his face.

Alec remembers the warmth of Magnus’ palm fitting itself to the lines of his face, a steadying tether in the midst of chaos. Despite the fear and the worry, Alec can understand how this is Magnus’ fight and his alone, the necessity of the return to his father’s land, unforgiving and violent in its very existence.
