If you signed up to write a personalized thank you card to an specific fic writer, your responses MUST be submitted by next Tuesday (September 4) at 9:00PM EST. I am still missing responses from several people and will be sending out individual reminders within the next 24 to 48 hours to each of you, so please be sure to check your email and/or messages depending on the contact method you provided me with.

The You Pick the Tag Event is designed to allow readers to vote for thematic tags they would like to see primarily featured in Malec fic recs on Fridays for 8 weeks beginning on September 7th. To participate, please submit your votes for each week’s poll using the Google Form linked below. It is currently OPEN and will close on September 1st at 9:00PM EST. You Pick the Tag Event: Adjusted Schedule & Voting Procedure

This event is designed to allow readers to vote for a thematic tag they would like to see primarily featured in Malec fic recs on Fridays for 8 weeks. Following the hiatus, I have adjusted the event schedule. It will now begin on September 7th and will run every Friday through October 26th.

I have also slightly altered the voting procedure. Instead of voting each week for the following Friday’s theme, I have created a Google Form that includes a poll for every week so votes can be submitted all at once. It is currently OPEN for votes and will close on September 1st at 9:00PM EST. Each poll features different thematic tags, allowing for a variety of choices and recs for each week.

The poll for the first week’s thematic tag had already run in its entirety prior to the hiatus being instated. As such, I will honor those results. Week #1 will feature recs with Arranged Marriage as a central theme. 

The polls included in the form are for Week #2 through Week #8 of the event. Here are the choices:

New Fillable Form for Finding Fics

I was doing a bit of housekeeping on the blog this morning and realized that there has been an influx of requests for finding a specific fic. While I’m more than happy to try to track them down, quite a few of them have been fairly vague and/or they do not include information that I can use to search for them on A03. This makes it extremely difficult (and less likely) for me to find them.

As a result, I have created a Google Form in an attempt to make this process easier and more likely to be successful. Please answer as many of the questions listed on it as you can in order to help me find the fic you’re looking for.

THE POSITIVE MESSAGE RESPONSE FORM IS LIVE!

You can now submit a positive message about your fandom experience as a fic writer and/or fic reader by using the submission form located here. 

Or, if you are participating in the #SaveShadowhunters campaign on Twitter and would prefer to use your response to add to the hashtag count, I will post two different tweets during today’s 11AM-12PM Power Hour (one for author responses and one for reader responses) where you can submit it as well. 

The submission form will close on September 4th at 9:00PM EST and these responses will be posted for 24 hours straight during Author Appreciation Day on November 1st.

A few friendly reminders: 

  • Although this blog recs Malec-centric fics, everyone in the Shadowhunters fandom is welcome to participate in this event regardless of what pairings you prefer or kinds of fics you write.
  • If authors would like to participate as both a reader and writer in either part of the event, they are more than welcome to do so.

THANK YOU CARD SUBMISSION FORM IS LIVE

If you signed up to write a personalized thank you card to an author for the event, I will be sending out reminders in the next 24 hours with key information that it tailored to you specifically. It will include: 

  • Final assignments (for those who were willing to write to more than one author or had no author preference)
  • Links to the page(s) where your author posts their works
  • Link to the submission form (which you can also find here)

Please be sure to check your email and/or messages on Tumblr or Twitter for yours!

Due to the craziness surrounding the cancellation and #SaveShadowhunters, I have adjusted the event schedule. This will give me about a month to get everything ready to mail and email, so please make sure you submit on time. 

A few friendly reminders: 

  • Your message does not have to be extremely long or elaborate, but please tailor it to your author(s)
  • You do not have to purchase a card or pay for postage
  • Please fill out a separate submission form for each author you are writing to

Not sure what to write about?

  • What do you like the most about their fics? (i.e. writing style, characterization, etc.)
  • Do you have a favorite fic that they’ve written? Why does it stand out?
  • Is there a quote from the narrative or piece of dialogue that stands out? Why does it mean so much to you?
  • How does their writing make you feel? Is there a specific fic that makes you feel something that is especially strong?
