Magnus reaches up a hand and holds Alec’s wrist, breaths steady and long, fingers pressed to the veins in his wrist. Alec stills, cupping Magnus’ neck and feeling the pulse thud there. He thinks about twin hearts and eternity, the way that some souls must be drawn together by fate or the hand of some God or possibly their own determination.
When Magnus Bane walks into Alec’s third grade classroom, a scowl printed on his face and a permanent chip on his shoulder, Alec has no idea that, one day, this scrawny smart-ass will mean the world to him.
He has even less idea that he’ll mean just as much to Magnus.
In which Magnus and Alec are destined for each other, everyone around them can see it, and sometimes, love is found in the most unexpected places.

I believe both links are broken/not working on mobile devices x
Hi! I’m sorry that you’re having trouble! The link to the Author Appreciation Day page won’t work in the app; unfortunately I’ve found that page links typically don’t. However, the link to the Author Sign-Up form works on my end (both in and out of the app). If you’re using the app, perhaps try opening them from the browser on your mobile device instead. If you continue having trouble, please do not hesitate to let me know. I want to make sure that everything is accessible to anyone who wants to participate.
Shadowhunters Fic Writers: Sign Up Here to Receive a Personalized Thank You Card!
“When fic authors receive comments, they know, clearly, that someone enjoyed their writing. And while leaving kudos on a fanfic also allows you to say that you enjoy what you’ve read, as a fanfic author, I can tell you that there’s nothing sweeter than getting comments on my fics. I love reading them, and knowing that people enjoy my writing when I do.”
As a fic writer, you have spent countless hours thinking and writing about plot, character development, important dynamics, and the evolution of romantic relationships. You have taken time away from your other responsibilities and your personal life in order to create and share wonderful works of fiction with the rest of us.
Collectively and individually, you have all given so much to the Shadowhunters fandom. Now the fandom wants to give back to you.
For this year’s Author Appreciation Day event, readers and/or writers have the opportunity to write a personalized thank you message to an author that they are assigned to through a sign-up and selection process. Once all of the messages have been submitted, I will have thank you cards printed and mailed or PDFed and emailed to the author based on their preference. Similar to comments, this is a tangible and personal way for members of the fandom to interact and show their appreciation for fic writers and their work.
If you would like to receive a personalized thank you card, please sign up using this form. It will remain open until May 15th at 9:00 PM EST.
If you have questions or concerns, please read the Event Guidelines and Sign-Up Basics included below the cut. If your question is not addressed, please feel free to contact me here.
General Event Guidelines
This is designed to be a positive event, showing support for our amazing authors and helping strengthen the bond between fic readers and writers. As such, I reserve the right to disregard and/or not post any negative responses.
Although this blog recs Malec-centric fics, everyone in the Shadowhunters fandom is welcome to participate in this event regardless of what pairings you prefer or kinds of fics you write.
However, this blog is also dedicated to healthy representations of characters and relationships based firmly on equality. I reserve the right to deny the opportunity for participation to those who write homophobic and/or racist material (i.e., erasing a minority or character’s sexuality).
Whether you’re relatively new to the fandom or you’ve been here for a while, everyone is welcome to participate.
If an author and/or reader would like to participate in both parts of the event, they are more than welcome to do so.
If authors would like to participate as both a reader and writer in either part of the event, they are more than welcome to do so.
Sign-Up Basics
Through the Google Form linked above, you will be asked to disclose your first name / nickname; the pseudonym you write under; the characters, pairings, and other elements you tend to write about; and a link to where your work is located. All of this information will be publicly posted in the Author Claims List to help thank you card writers familiarize themselves with your work and identify who they would like to write to.
Fic writers will also be asked to include their mailing address or email address, depending on how they would like to receive their personalized thank you card. I will be the only person who sees this information and it will only be used in order to send your thank you card.
The last portion of the Google Form has a space for early submissions of Part #2 of the event. If you would like to take part in this while filling in your sign-up form, you are more than welcome to. For more information about Part #2, please click here.
For the prompt: “ollie and alec meeting for the first time through luke, and ollie is just excited to meet an openly gay shadowhunter and has too many questions while alec just wants her gone so he can go home and have dinner with magnus”
I have a whole list of malec fic recs over here, and here are some accounts where you can find some recs as well: @malecficlibrary and UnitedSHFandom on Twitter (they share fics and other creations by the fandom).
For centuries, Magnus being awake at 3am usually meant one too many shots of vodka and the strong possibility of ending up in bed with a stranger. Even after he had met Alec it was much of the same. Alec wasn’t a stranger, he was the love of his life, and there was less alcohol involved sure, but still a gorgeous man in his bed. Or his couch. Or his shower. Magnus wasn’t picky.
Now being up at 3am meant something drastically different.
He wanted to spend a lifetime’s worth of mornings waking up beside Alec, just like this, wherever life took them, because Alec was home. Magnus had spent a lifetime searching, and in Alec he had found where his life and his heart belonged.
As a firefighter for the FDNY, Alec Lightwood and his battalion respond to an emergency call for an apartment fire. After rushing a young, soon-to-be mother out of the burning building and to safety, Alec must deliver her newborn baby.
He never expected the little girl to spark an inexplicable bond between them. After a prior adoption fell through in a devastating way, should he and Magnus even hope they might be able to adopt her?
