Anonymous asked: How do you find fics to rec?
It really just depends. First of all, I check A03 for new fics every morning and evening and bookmark fics that, at some point, I would like to read and perhaps rec. I also regularly search for themes, tags, and authors that I enjoy reading and add those as well. At the moment, I have just over 1,000 fics in my “to-read” tag and that continues to grow every day.
If I’m planning for an event with a specific theme or tag in mind, then I search my bookmarks and A03 as a whole, as well as keep my eyes out for anything on Tumblr that would fit with it. The basis for that is really just fine-tuning how to properly search for things using the methods that each site provides. Obviously, one is much easier to navigate than the other.
However, if I’m planning for a regular day then it really just depends on what I want to read at any given moment paired with the knowledge that I need to balance that with types of fics that I’ve noticed my readers enjoy. For example, I’ve been reading a lot of AU fics lately, but I try to feature at least one canon fic a day as well because I know some people prefer those. I also subscribe to several of my favorite authors on A03 and whenever they post a new fic, I usually read it right away and rec it as soon as I can fit it into the queue.
I hope that answers your question. I’m not sure if I was as specific as you wanted me to be. If I wasn’t, please feel free to let me know and I’ll try to give a more in-depth answer.
