“Kitten,” Magnus said gently. Alec felt heat flare across his cheeks at the diminutive, affection tightening in his chest. He looked back up and found Magnus’s reflection frowning at him, concerned. Magnus rested his free hand on Alec’s hip and gave it a squeeze. “Are you sure you want to do this?”

“I – I think – ” Alec took a calming breath, closing his eyes for a second and tilting his head back, canted slightly to the side so that Magnus’s hair brushed his cheek. He smelled of something bright and sharp and sweet, like citrus, underlain with the familiar low notes of sandalwood. Alec breathed deep and greedy, sighing, “Yeah. I want to. It’s – I think it’s something I need to do. For me.”
